Kickflip is a fundamental trick that will allow you to master more advanced tricks on your skateboard.

How to Kickflip

Step-by-Step Kickflip

Get into a proper stance to perform a kickflip.

Keep your front foot just below the bolts and your back foot on top of the tail. To get a pop, press the tail with the ball of the foot.

Keep your front foot in front and flick out. Flicking towards the ground is a common mistake made by beginner skaters. This makes it more difficult to land the kickflip.

You can pop up and then flick towards the corner of your skateboard.

Timing

Kickflips can be landed by timing.

Landing

It is possible to do a kickflip. Try holding onto a table, or a waist-high fence so you can support your weight while doing a kickflip. This will allow you to get more airtime and help you master this trick.

If you do a kickflip, your back foot will usually stop the rotation. After completing a kickflip, the front foot will return to the board.
